In the picturesque locale of the East End of Long Island, the story of Kenneth Glover Sr., a man deeply rooted in the farming traditions of his family, unfolds beautifully. Kenneth embraced the only life he had ever known, a life filled with the simple joys and the bountiful yields of farming. In 1952, with dreams nurtured in the rich soils of his family farm, Kenneth embarked on his own agricultural journey, establishing a farm in the idyllic settings of Eastern Long Island.
In the initial years, Kenneth Sr. dedicated himself to cultivating potatoes. However, as the potato market experienced a downturn, the ever-resilient farmer chose to pivot, introducing a delightful change to the community. Kenneth brought vibrant strawberry fields to life and warmly invited the public to experience the joy of handpicking fresh strawberries. This brilliant initiative blossomed into one of Long Island’s premier “U-Pick” farms, a move that was celebrated by the community, immortalized by naming a nearby street “Strawberry Lane”.
As the farm flourished, it became a nurturing ground for the next generation. Kenneth Jr. embraced his heritage with open arms, working tirelessly alongside his father to cultivate the rich lands that had been nurtured with so much love and dedication. The dynamic father-son duo expanded their farm’s offerings, introducing an enchanting pumpkin patch just in time for the autumn season. Together, they continued to innovate, keeping the farm fresh and exciting for visitors year after year. The legacy didn’t end there; Kenneth Jr.’s children, too, embraced the family’s love for farming, actively participating in nurturing the fertile fields.
In 2001, the Glover family bid a heartfelt farewell to the beloved Kenny Sr. Yet, his spirit remains forever etched in the farm, guiding them as they venture into the third generation of stewardship. With hearts full of love and hands ready to till the earth, they remain committed to Kenny Sr.’s vision: offering the community the freshest produce and sharing the joy and love that emanates from their cherished farm.
